Together with buddha Shakyamuni are the Thirty-five Buddhas of confession གཤེག་ལྷ་སོ་ལྔ་ from the Sutra of the Three Heaps ཕུང་པོ་གསུམ་པའི་མདོ་. Reciting this sutra is considered a method of purifying broken vows and downfalls of the bodhisattva vow by invoking thirty-five Buddhas of confession.
