This beautiful hand painted Tibetan thangka painting depicts the 8th Karmapa, Mikyö Dorje མི་བསྐྱོད་རྡོ་རྗེ་, of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. At the upper side of the thangka (from right to left) is Gampopa སྒམ་པོ་པ།, Marpa Lotsawa མར་པ་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ། and Jetsun Milarepa རྗེ་བཙུན་མི་ལ་རས་པ།. In between them are eight identical forms of Mikyö Dorje while the palms of their hands and the soles of their feet facing forward. At the bottom of the painting are (from right to left) are Rangjung Gyalmo རང་བྱུང་རྒྱལ་མོ། (Palden Lhamo), at the center is a black form of Vajrayogini རྡོ་རྗེ་རྣལ་འབྱོར་མ། and below her is Vajravarahi རྡོ་རྗེ་ཕག་མོ།. On the bottom left is Bernakchen བེར་ནག་ཅན།.

The thangka is painted entirely by hand on cotton canvas using natural mineral and vegetable pigments with 24K gold details. The complicated designs, intricate brushstrokes, and extraordinary detail make these thangkas authentic works of Buddhist art. A true masterpiece, this traditional Buddhist painting is the perfect addition to your home, meditation space, room shrine or altar space.
