This beautiful hand painted Tibetan thangka painting depicts Jetsun Milarepa རྗེ་བཙུན་མི་ལ་རས་པ། - Tibet's greatest yogi and the founder of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. In the painting, Milarepa is portrayed sitting in a cave, where he often stayed as a wandering yogi, and preforming his famous gesture - the right hand is lifted next to his ear "to hear his guru from afar". At the bottom of the painting are 3 images: The hunter, Gonpo Dorje, his dog and a deer. This feature a famous traditional Tibetan story in which Milarepa pacify the angry hunting dog while chasing after the deer. Later on he succeed to pacify the hunter as well and taught all three of them the non-violent and non-confrontational way of life of the Dharma.

The thangka is painted entirely by hand on cotton canvas using natural mineral and vegetable pigments with 24K gold details. The complicated designs, intricate brushstrokes, and extraordinary detail make these thangkas authentic works of Buddhist art. A true masterpiece, this traditional Buddhist painting is the perfect addition to your home, meditation space, room shrine or altar space.
